Even though I'm not much of a 'red' person I find red and white quilts utterly charming.
(... I actually dislike the expression 'I'm not a such and such person'... what does that even mean?? No 2 once said to a friend of mine who'd invited him to dinner: no thank you I'm not a salad person... he was three at the time and I vowed to cut down using it)
('utterly charming' sounds deliciously old-fashioned. I might use that more, just to annoy my children for whom everything is 'bae'. Whatever. Sorry... whatevs!)
Anyway, red and white quilts are gorgeous. And I've always stalked on the net any pictures of that fabulous exhibition of 2011 at the Armoury in New York.

Sigh.
The closest thing I could get to it was the book/catalogue

And that is when I discovered the amazing fact that all of the 653 quilts in the exhibition belonged to one collector Joanna S. Rose, and the exhibition was her 80th birthday present from her husband.
Wow.

Now I've worked out that for me to do a similar thing when I'm 80, I'd have to collect/make/steal/borrow 18.6 quilts every year till then.
Bonkers.
I'm never going to have an exhibit of red and white quilts for my 80th birthday; that is it.
What's the point in carrying on?
Sigh.
