ok, I'm gutted by today's referendum results.... but don't want to talk about it.
I've decided I'm going to become a middle aged woman who takes pictures of flowers....
Yesterday I went to see a friend and had a lovely walk around her picture perfect village.
It was relaxing and just what was needed ahead of the last two crazy weeks of school.
Apologies for the photobombing... I'm trying to distract myself.
And don't ask for the names of plants... I took pictures of the ones I likes!
The majority of the under 30 voted to stay. The over 50s voted to leave. Young people will have to live in a world they haven't voted for...
I'm sure we'll be fine. Maybe things will be even better... maybe they'll be worse. Eventually things will settled. Still... I feel let down. Being born in a different country I feel personally rejected...
(which is ridiculous I know. Still...)
My boys? Well...
No 1 this morning wanted to know all about the effect it'll have on business and economy.
No 2 was worried about the falling power and his decreasing purchasing power when we're in Canada next month.
No 3 was worried we'd be kicked out of the European football Championship 'now that we're not in Europe.
Horses for courses.
Same here, devastated, particularly for the environment. I could really do with a walk somewhere beautiful like the village you visited. I especially love the yew trees in the churchyard, wonderful. Yours with a heavy heart, CJ xx

So sorry for the young ones.. very sad here, too

It's really really abominable. I live in. Scotland - in Edinburgh. We voted to stay, and this morning I hugged and cried with a German mum at school.
I am horrified. I am getting very angry at the utter lies and untruths that Farage et al were able to peddle. They have sold people a n utter lie and we are now going to have to bring up our children in a different era - of financial, political and comstitutional uncertainty. It's really hard to see what or where things might go from here.
I'm sorry for you too - you know that lots of Brits love being part of Europe and having people like you here. Working with us, living with us. I'm just sorry that the small minded and intolerant won the day.

I too am utterly devastated - we all voted to remain. My mother is Dutch and I have lived in the Netherlands and Germany even though I am English. I loved being part of Europe and am anxious for my children's future like you. Sad day. I feel lost.

Sad day. I just feel lost and anxious for my children's future like you. I have lived in the Netherlands and Germany and loved being part of the Euro. I am over 50 just, so we didn't all vote to leave.

Mmmmm posted twice.
Either a sign of being over 50 or too frazzled or maybe both

Completely devastated. I fear for our children too.

I'm 64 and voted to remain - as did everyone I know from 18- 80. We should be careful about generalising though- yesterday in a local shop I was verbally abused by an angry young man who said that as I was old I had obviously voted leave and ruined his future. The statistics regarding educational level and even area where one lives are equally compelling and open to misconstruction.
We have many European friends living here and in their own countries. They are sad for us and we for them. Many people of all ages have been conned into a bad decision, all we can do now is to hope not to make a mess of this new situation we find ourselves in.

I am afraid its called democracy. Do you believe in democracy? I have lived pretty much all my adult life under a government I did not vote for (years in England under Blair and now in Scotland under SNP) but the majority of my fellow countrymen did and I have to respect that decision. We all just have to get on with it whatever 'it' is.

Not all over 50s voted to leave... My husband and I both voted Remain as so did the majority of our friends. Just as shocked and devastated as you. I hate to think what sort of future we are handing our children and I'm appalled at the hatred and racism it seems to have stirred up.

Actually your post has made me feel a bit better. Maybe it's the reality of your boys' approach. Made me smile :)

Please please never feel unwanted here. There are inward-looking people in all countries, but ......hmmm...I don't know what to say next. I feel embarrassed and ashamed to be British. The referendum was so divisive, and has brought nothing but bad feeling between friends, and within families.
