This morning, after I dropped off No 2 to rugby training I leashed the dog and rambled through the city for an hour. I don't know you... but normally when I walk around my town I have a purpose, as in somewhere to go or something to buy... I don't think I've ever walked around my town just for the sake of walking.
It seems a weird thing to do and yet it shouldn't. It's considered perfectly normal to ramble on the hills... why not on the streets?
Cheltenham is such a beautiful town... it's a shame not to explore it more...
We crunched leaves and explored new parks
old art, new art
I had such a good hour. That's all it took to walk a few streets and wonder through a park I had previously only heard of. Sanford Park, I'll be back in the spring, I bet you're even more beautiful then.
Shame on me.
Urban rambling might be something to do again. Soon.
We used to be great urban ramblers before we had children, spending hours walking the streets of Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham and elsewhere, enjoying the architecture. We tend to stick to the countryside with the children though. Cheltenham is a lovely place to explore isn't it. CJ xx

It looks a beautiful town. I spent lots of Sunday's as a student walking round Manchester as the shops were all shut and there was nothing to do. York is another place that's great for rambling. There's a cat trail that you can follow that takes you off the beaten track and which leads you to the numerous cats that are on buildings around the city. It's a good walk with some fascinating tales thrown in and all in the city.

Shame on me too. I've only recently discovered the delights of walking along the river in Worcester.

I know what you mean, it does seem odd, but you found some great places to walk and things to explore so I hope that you enjoy doing it again! xx

I didn't realise you were Cheltenham based! I know it well, grew up just outside and now in Stroud. My Aunt was always mad about the ironwork on the houses. She always used to say "look at the wrought ironwork children!" We renamed it rotten ironwork. :-)

We went walking round Cheltenham on Saturday. Sadly we only saw the shopping streets in the centre, not the beautiful places you've shown. (My 12 year old will walk miles for a New Look or a H&M, but not for a view). Even the shopping streets are beautiful, as shops go, though. We do love Cheltenham.
