Just a small peak.
I wasn't going to go but in the end I went for a whirlwind visit and felt better for it, even if now I'm kind of chasing my own tail a bit. It'll be fine; I have plans for dinner and the necessary means to see them through, there are no clubs this afternoon (amen), the dishwasher is on, and so is the washing, the line is full and if I concentrate and type quickly the dog will get her walk too. Since she's been with the dog sitter when we were away she's very demanding. She must have been walked a lot!! Must have a word next time.
Anyway, the sun was shining, the Malvern Hills were beckoning from a distance and sooooo...
what did I see?
Texture. I have to say there was a definite shift away from 'vintage' fabric and design and a lot of more fabric manipulation/folding/stitching and so on.
Lots of white too.
There was a great portrait quilt (only one sadly)
and this tweed and flannel hexagon was really cute. The fabric of the hexagon on the back makes up the border of the hexagon on the front... The pieces are then hand sewn together.
My dad would like that.
I thought it was quite a small show this year quilt-wise... don't know why... or maybe it was because there was nothing that really grabbed me and stopped me in my tracks... mmhhh. I love colour so much, (yes, white is a colour in mind) that I missed it today. ( It would be unfair to say this was all that was there though! )
I did take quite a few photos of small landscape quilts, but that's another post altogether.
Must dash.
Some lovely things there, and some great texture. The hexagons are wonderful, very painstakingly done. Glad you managed a visit to the show.

Just love all those white textured ones. Saw something similar on Pinterest the other day, makes me want to quilt again.

The quilts are amazing, some I would love, some not so, but they all have an enormous amount of work and skill in them and that is lovely to see. Glad that you enjoyed yourself and had a good time! Hope that the dog is a little less wanting of walkies today! xx
