- I can't believe I've been absent for so long.
- I ran the 'run' yesterday (it wasn't a 'race' it was a 'run'... big difference)
It was gruesome.
And wet
very wet and windy.
I felt good I've done it. Mentally.
Physically... well... next question?
- Yesterday it was also No 2's birthday party:
a testoreone fuelled/petrol-head kind of party.
9 boys, 9 go-karts. A lot of noise.
- And I forgot the cake.
- I didn't leave it at home.
- I didn't leave it in the boot of the car.
- I simply didn't make it.
- I didn't even think about making it.
I - FORGOT - TO - BAKE - MY - SON - A - BIRTHDAY - CAKE.
Now if you'll excuse I'm going to take my lactic acid-laden limbs and go and cry in a corner.
I hope the excitment of the go-karting made up for the absence of cake... it should have done so don't feel guilty!

Aw! You can't do *everything*. And just think, you've sorted what he's going to tell his Therapist in 20 years, your work as a mother is done.

Never mind. bake an unbirthday cake instead - there'll be more to go round without 8 others to share with!
p.s. hope you got the yarn, and well done on doing the run.

My daughter is pleading with me to buy her a birthday cake. I'm ignoring her.

Congratulations on the run - brave of you to go ahead in miserable conditions. As for the cake, how often have you seen boys stay still long enough to eat cake at at party? They're way to busy with other fun - in your case no doubt glowing over the go-kart experience.

Well done on the race! He probably didn't notice with all that racing around... a post birthday cake might be appreciated more. Be kind to yourself, you do a great job. A x

non me lo hai detto, non ci posso credere, ma veramente hai dimenticato la torta per il compleanno di Matteo ?

I think you should just play it off as if it were planned. Tell him you are celebrating his birth week this year and the cake comes at the end of the week!
Congratulations on your run! I love the umbrella photo. Makes me want to splash around in some puddles.

Oh no! I'm sure no one noticed? If it makes you feel any better, I forgot to pick up my oldest up from her first day of kindergarten. Forgetfulness happens.
Congrats on doing your run!

Congratulations on the run! So sorry about the weather. And don't worry about the cake. I'm sure the go-karting was plenty exciting on its own!

I bet they had a whale of a time, cake or not - look at those go karts! Don't beat yourself up about the cake. He could have a cake day later in the week. It would be like being the queen. Many congratulations on the run.

Hello! Well done on the run! I'm your partner in the stash swap! I was so pleased that I was partnered with you as I'm a big fan of your blog! I tried to email you but I think I've got the wrong address. Could you send me the right one? Lots of love, Amanda xxx

You did good, both with the party and the run. Who needs cake when you have a go-kart to race?
Really. You did good.

I am afraid that I would have said that it is a special family tradition NOT to have cake on your 8th birthday. It is in memory of the little boy (his great-great-great uncle) who gave his birthday cake to poor and hungry children when he was 8. But not to worry - everything goes back to normal when you are 9.

Blame Mr M!! (But boy, are you in trouble with your mother....)
Well done on the run - please tell me there are no half marathons in your sights.

That's your conscience telling you that exercise is bad for you - honest - that's what I tell myself "stay at home in the warm! Stay at home in the warm". (Well done you, I can't even run a bath these days. xx)
