Sometimes it's easy to forget how many beautiful sights we have around us
and then somebody comes over from afar with a long list of places to visit
and you realise how lucky you really are to be surrounded by so much history
and beauty
and that being a tourist in your own country can be just as fun as being abroad.
I always feel that whenever I have to go into London. I often dream about visiting Paris, Barcelona, Rome etc but then stop and realise that I can visit one of the world's major cities by just hopping on a train... and that's without even thinking about the rest of the country.

Sometimes I take the girls to see the tourist sights of Cambridge - especially in the summer when there are guided tours so we learn a lot more than we do by ourselves. One thing I always notice is how expensive we seem to make it - but maybe that's just us!

I completely agree with you! We traveled a lot all over the world and saw many many beautiful places but you just have to look around you with an open mind and you will discover so many beautiful things where you live to...

No doubt about it, this is a beautiful country full of lovely places to visit. Have a bet on with H about the castle, please put us out of our misery!

This is so true! We all forget from time to time. It's nice to see your home through someone else's eyes.

I don't even take advantage of the museums and galleries nearly often enough but being a member of the National Trust has helped over the years. We've really got our money's worth.

You are SO lucky! We have lots of cornfields if you'd care to visit. Oh, and Johnny Appleseed's grave!
Can't quite compare to the beauty where you live!!!

Depending on your country, it could take a lifetime to explore all of it.

Are you shattered? Looks like you covered some serious tour guiding grounds.

I have been to all the three places in your photos.. :-) Oxford obviously, living near it, Cambridge as it is where my brother lives and my sister used to work opposite Kings college.. and a few other places in the Uk .. Edinburgh, where my cousin lives and London where my inlaws live, down to Cornwall .. but I love going over to France or Italy.

Oooh! Which castle is that? I think I recognise it, but don't want to look like a fool.

The castle begins with W....... and it was there that I first learned that my soon-to-be husband was terrified of heights! I made him go on the London Eye with me a couple of ears later but I think I may have used up his good will on that front now.

Is that Bath in that pic??? My favorite place, my friend lives in Wellow and I love going to stay... I could easily move from Australia and settle there quite happily, which is exactly what my friend has done.... great photos !!!
