I tried to resist the call of all the wonderful scrap quilts out there... but I knew from the beginning it was a futile effort.
My sister has claimed it for herself.
Sigh.
I guess with all the babysitting she does she's probably earned it.
All the material came from my stash and I wish I can say it made a big dent ... bit it didn't.

No 3's room has been repainted recently and his old quilt just didn't fit anymore.

Velocity by Jessica Hogarth purchased some from here and some - serendipitously - at the Birmingham Quilt Festival last August.
Simple squares because let's face it... it's busy enough.
I used quilter's dream wadding for the first time - I normal go for warm and natural - and I must say I was impressed. Lovely stuff.

A few months ago i was asked by this lovely lady to take part in a doll quilt swap.
It's always intimidating doing something for a stranger...
Not knowing what they like...
Their favourite colours....
or even it they drink coffee...
Fortunately Carrie liked it!
(I had a hard time parting with it... sigh..)
B and I have know each other since we were 6. She's the only person I know that can talk more than I can. She's like a sister. And even if life took us to different places, every time we meet it's always as if we never left each other.
Last Monday she had her first baby.
Can you imagine how excited I am?
I've been agonising over this quilt.
Deciding the design kept me awake at night.
Not to mention the fact I changed the fabric combination a zillion times.
It's only small. Crib size.
(But this gives me the excuse to make more when he grows up!)

Finally a day bright enough to allow me to photograph my latest quilt...
... a very hard thing to do without someone holding it up for you. Bear with me whilst I attempt various positions, ok?
After the 'over the door', we move onto the 'casually thrown over a chair'
which is followed swiftly by the 'draped over the most uncomfortable sofa in the world'
I give up. You'll have to use your imagination here...
The quilt measures 60" by 60". The 'dresdens' are made using a very old layer cake of Heather Bayley's fabric which had been in my stash for years, the background is pale grey and the back is a lovely pink with red polkadots fabric from IKEA. I didn't want to emphasize the border so I used the same pale grey.
I also chosed the wise shortcut of using my Bernina's blanket stitch as a way of appliqueing the blocks onto the background. I don't think I would have ever finished it otherwise!
Now to the next one... a very simple/two colours Halloween quilt... there's no rest for the wicked!
