So, Leonardo's quilt... (not THAT Leonardo!! I know he was rather a clever inventor and amazing artist... but I to my knowledge he never forayed into patchwork!! Correct me if I'm wrong.) In brief: my mum's neighobours had a baby and she asked me to make them a little quilt.
I had so much fun.
The top is made out of 4 fat 1/4s I had in my stash, and the back too, is a mish mash of leftovers and stash stock. I only bought a stripey piece for the border... which I proceeded to cut the wrong way and therefore annulling the 'stripes' effect. Doh.
I haven't had a good week really... what with the charred food disaster and a house that still stinks. Yesterday when I picked up No 3 from his class he shouted "Hi mum, does the house still smell?"... Yup, subtle is not his middle name, so then I had to explain to the teacher and the surrounding parents what that was all about etc. etc. Great parenting moment.
AND today whilst enjoying my free cup of coffee in Waitrose I managed to spill half of it down my front. Classy. Very classy.
Anyway, I'm deviating from the subject... the quilt, ah yes, there it is, in all its tiny 32"x32" glory:
I've had that monkey fabric since forever... don't know what was I keeping it for!
I've attached the binding by machine (shhhh, don't tell the police) in a new way that's doing the rounds at the moment. Very easy I have to say.
So there. I'm off to pack for No 2 who's going on rugby tour this weekend. Mr M is going with him and in the name of 'joining in' he will be wearing a monkey onesie.
Sorry.... allow me a moment to re-compose myself.
Ahem, yes, as I was saying a monkey onesie... actually the whole team will. What does that have to do with rugby I'm not entirely sure... but I think that delving too deeply in the rituals of male bonding is a very dangerous thing to do. Certain misteries should remain such.
On that note, I'm off to light another 12,576 candles around the house... talk of fighting fire with fire...
