Back to the randomness of everyday life
- It's raining hard again.
- I think I have everything I need for the boys' new school year.
- (except three pairs of rugby boots, but Mr M will sort that out on Saturday)
- I've been sewing labels for three days.
- I haven't even started looking at the shopping bags full of mis-matched socks.
- I haven't watched TV at all since the Closing Ceremony; it doesn't seem worth it.
- I spent 1 hour and 42 minutes in a queue on the phone to get tickets to hear JK Rowling talking about her new book at our local Festival of Literature.
- I got them!
- I'm also going to see/hear Paul Auster. I hope he's as smart and different as his books. When the 'written' voice doesn't match the real person it is a very disappointing experience.
- I'm getting into the 'fantasy genre'. Just finished "daughter of smoke and bone" by Laini Taylor. Well written. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. (...please don't say the vampire diaries... that was baaaaad)
- Also read "the marriage plot" by Eugenides. Well written, but not amazing. "Middlesex" his previous book was great, this one... was ok. I don't like it when authors draw a whole book into conclusion in the last half a page... is that the best they can do?
- My hands are itching to make stuff.
- I have no time.
- No 2 is watching Chariots of Fire on DVD. I'm sure it won't be the last time either.
