I remember watching Diana's and Charles' wedding sitting with my sister on my great-aunt's bed (who knows why there and not on the sofa). I was 11yrs old and had no idea I'd have remembered it. I had no idea I'd ended up marrying my English prince and living in England either.
Life is funny like that.
I was trying to explain this fact to the boys but they missed the point. They didn't seem to be interested in this new wedding. This is what No 1 said:
"Mum, when people are of a certain age they like things like this, but when you're young you don't"
Oh boy. That was harsh.
'Of a certain age'? what does that mean young man? I made you, I can lock you in a room till you're my age, you know? (Actually I can't, but he's still impressionable enough to still believe me... maybe)
Anyway, what doesn't kill you make you stronger (as my grandmother was fond of saying), did you watch it? (Did you go?).
We had a party,
decorated the house,
and had Victoria sponge, and cupcakes... and watched the wedding ceremony drinking champagne...
I thought it was beautiful. She looked beautiful.
Like a fairytale.
And regardless what you think of the whole Royal family thing, I thought it was nice for a change to focus on something beautiful and meaningful for a while.
And just to bring things down to earth... have you seen this video?
Have a good weekend!
