I'm not one to make New Year's promises about things I might not keep and subsequently feel bad about it months/weeks down the line... I have however an overall 'feeling' for the year ahead. Just an idea taking shape about slowing down. A desire to savour the 'now' instead of constantly planning the 'next'. Are you still with me?
Partly I'm sure it's caused by the overall collective feeling of economic gloom and doom, by the excesses of Christmas etc, but also... wouldn't it be 'nice' just to simply slow down and smell the flowers for a while?
Let's talk about hand stitching for example. I've completely fallen in love with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to start hand sewing quilts anytime soon, but the soothingrhythm of hand made stitches?
I'm a new-born hand-stitcher!
I've had this skirt for so long that green has come/gone/and come back into fashion again. THAT long.
But thanks to this book (bought with Santa's vouchers):
now I have a new-old skirt.
And it feels good too.
PS (check out Ali's gorgeous embroidery inspired from the same publication!!)
